Bath Time

As a rule, Pigs love water! But most of them, only on "their time"! Meaning most of them only enjoy it on their own terms. If you start them out early in life, bathing them often, they get used to it fast, and actully enjoy it! A bath isnt a hassle at all! The easiest way is having them in a tub or sink with a sprayer so they can have a shower! Its always handy to have a scrunchy or body gloves that have a rough texture, so as your bathing them, it will remove any dry skin. It may seem rough to you, but their skin is so tough, they enjoy it!

Shampoo

We recommend using a tear free baby shampoo. Its gentle enough to not irritate their eyes, but strong enough to cleanse their skin well and leave them smelling clean and having shiny skin & hair! Its best to apply the shampoo to the scrunchy or body gloves and firmly scrub all over until you have a good lather. Sometimes you have to rinse & repeat, depending on when the last bath was. Just always make sure you get a good lather & rinse well!

Moisturizer

After a bath, make sure to towel dry you Pig well. Within minutes of the towel drying, your pig will be totally dry! Once completely dry, its time for skin moisturizer! This is a must, because they dont sweat, and their skin will become extremely dry & flaky. We recommend using baby oil, and placing it into a spray bottle. Place him or her in their own area and spray a light coat. Leave them in their area for about 1 hour. After 1 hour, all the oil will be absorbd into the skin and you can pick them up with no mess on your clothes!

Bath Time !!!

You can bathe your pig as often as you want, as long as you make sure to use skin moisturizer. When they are little, you will need to bathe them more often because they tend to be bit messy when learning to eat solids! As they get older, they out grow this. So, no worries if you have a super messy eater i the begining!!!

The actual grooming part of a pig, is basically nothing compared to other pets! You do not have to brush them at all, but they love to be brushed over with a coarse bristle brush! You can use q-tips to gently wipe the inside of their ears after baths, and of course they dont have nails, so no nail trims needed! You will need to wipe over their hooves ocassionally with a fnger nail file, to help keep them filed down. But if they get daily time on concrete or tile, you shouldnt even need to worry about that! But otherwise ocassional hoof trims will be a must. This is very easy & something you can do yourself, however this too needs to begin early, even if its not a trim & just wiping a file over their hooves so it will not be problematic when the time comes that it needs to be done, but something they are already used to.
